Smiles for Kids 2010

Children were walking tall with big smiles at Jackson Creek Dental Group after receiving free dental care from local dentists as part of Smiles for Kids 2010. Children who qualified for the program and would not otherwise be able to receive dental care were given exams, x-rays, teeth cleaning, sealants, fluoride treatments, and emergency treatment. Four local dentists, their staff and community members offered this service on a volunteer basis, treating over 60 children for pro-bono services totaling over $20,000.

Dentists participating on Smiles for Kids day were: Dr. Ask, Dr. Kinzer, Dr. Roda and Dr. Simpson. Thirty-one of these children were referred to local dentists for further treatment as part of the Smiles for Kids program, and thirteen were sent to specialists in Sacramento as part of the Sacramento District Dental Society’s Adopt-a-Child, Orthodontic, and Specialty Referral Care Programs. In addition to the dentists mentioned above, the following local dentists will be offering this crucial follow-up treatment here in Amador County: Dr. Anderson, Dr. Durkin, Dr. Eaton, Dr. Montalbo, and
Dr. Ordonez.

Jackson Creek Dental Group Smiles for Kids

“One of our priorities during treatment time was educating these children and their families about good oral hygiene and the prevention of dental disease. We know that developing gum and periodontal disease can affect the entire body, so early prevention and education is key to retaining a healthy smile and body,” stated Dwight Simpson, D.D.S. at Jackson Creek Dental Group.

The Smiles for Kids program, a project of the Sacramento District Dental Society and Foundation, is run in support of the American Dental Association’s “Give Kids a Smile” campaign. Participants are member doctors, their staffs, vendors and community volunteers.
